We validated PsyMetrics assessments using UCF athletes and coaches’ ratings of these athletes’ performance during preparation for and participation in athletic competition. Sports in the study included football players, soccer, tennis and volleyball. PsyMetrics assessments were found to be predictive of numerous critical performance measures. For example, with our football team, PsyMetrics assessments successfully identified those athletes that were more likely to have a winning attitude, be self-confident, committed to hard work during preparation for competition, dependable, intense and focused, aggressive, team oriented and, overall, had the mental toughness necessary for athletic success.
